Task:

Nowadays energy efficiency is very important, so our team has the task to analyze and reduce the energy consumption of our school. Another task is alternative energy like photovoltaic. Our project is supported by SalzburgAG and they also gave us a budget of €5000 to spend for this project.

Current state:

The existing technological equipment and the consumption level of energy by humans are not really optimal. There are some outdated devices and the radiator heated too much. In addition we often don’t use the power very economically.

Desired Status:

Our target is to reduce the energy consumption by 15% in the following points:

Lighting

Both school buildings for classroom instruction and the workshop are equipped with normal fluorescent lamps. They use a lot of energy, so we could replace them with LEDs to save more power.

Heating

One problem is that the radiator heats too much so that power is wasted. Another point is that there are many uninsolated pipes in the workshop which also absorbs a lot of energy. With a better heating program and isolated pipes we want to save a lot of power. We can also reduce  consumption by using new settings for the blinds.

Each classroom

Often the visualizers, computers and the speakers run all night. We could install a time switch which cuts off the power every night.

Machines

Often energy is lost by idle power and obsolete electric motors. We can save energy by proper use and by installing frequency inverters.
